Quiet room

The memorial “Quiet room” was raised in memory of the war shipwrecks hurtigruten “Irma” and the shipping boat “Henry” that sank on the 13th of February 1944.

65 Norwegians lost their lives in this tragedy that occurred on Hustadvika, right by Hestkjæret lighthouse. The event shook a lot of people and has left its mark in their lives. Finally after 58 years of sorrow, loneliness and thoughts, the survivors, the ones who had been left behind, the next of kin and the rescuers was given the “Quiet room” where they can go when they need a place to themselves.

The Quiet room was officially consecrated by The Majesty King Harald the 16th of September 2002.
